Conference
More than 550 ALA members attended the 2013 ALA Annual
Conference, held Sept. 22-24 at
Hyatt Lost Pines Resort and Spa near
Austin, Texas.

of conferences, said the event received
extremely high marks from attend-
ees. “The Hyatt’s hotel staff was an
extension of our own,” she adds. “The
weather was ideal – both the Sunday
morning golf and the opening recep-
tion could not have been any better. It
was a glorious few days in Lost Pines.

2013 Lighting for Tomorrow Winners
Announced at ALA Conference
The winners of the 2013 Lighting for
Tomorrow competition
were announced and
awards presented on
Sept. 24 at the ALA
Annual Conference in
Lost Pines, Texas. The
eleventh annual competition recognized the
best designed, energy-efficient lighting
products in the residential market. In
the emerging OLED category, luminaires demonstrated the potential for
high-quality energy-saving residential
lighting applications.
Lighting for Tomorrow is a design
competition that challenges manufactur-
ers to meet consumer expectations by
improving the design of their products,
while achieving new heights of energy
efficiency.
Entries for 2013 featured indoor and
outdoor light emitting diode (LED)
lighting fixtures, replacement lamps,
fixture retrofit kits, lighting controls, and
organic light emitting diode (OLED)
Lighting for Tomorrow Winners receive their awards during the Tuesday
morning breakfast.

ALA Board
of Governors
were elected
during the Sept.
23 business luncheon held at the 2013
ALA Annual Conference in Lost Pines,
Texas.
The ALA Board of Governors consists of 12 persons: four manufacturers,
four manufacturers’ representatives and
four showrooms. Governors can serve
up to two, three year terms, and members may only serve two consecutive
terms. The Board of Governors elections will take effect January 1, 2014.
Officers were nominated by the
Officers Nominating Committee,
chaired by Gary Taylor, President,
Living Lighting.
Clark R. Linstone, CFO of Lamps
Plus, was elected to succeed Elise P.
Severson, CLC, CLMR, partner at
Lytestyles, as chair of the Board of
Governors.
Larry W.
King, LS,
President
& Owner
of Capital
Lighting,
was elected treasurer, and Rick W.
Seidman, president and CEO of
Quoizel, Inc., was re-elected secretary.
Ray S. Angelo, President & CEO
of Westinghouse Lighting, was elected
chair elect for 2013.
Board nominees were selected by
the Governors Nominating Committee,
chaired in 2013 by Ralph A. Flores,
President, Flores Lighting Group.
