2016 Board of Governors Officers and Members Elected
Officers and members of the 2016 ALA Board
of Governors were elected
during the Oct. 2 business
luncheon at the ALA Annual
Conference in Huntington
Beach, Calif.
Michael Estrin,
CLMR, Owner of Estrin
Sales Agency, was chosen to succeed
Ray Angelo, president & CEO of
Westinghouse Lighting, as the chair of
the Board of Governors. Angelo will
serve as immediate past chair.
Peter deSteiger, CEO of Ray Lighting
Centers, will serve as treasurer, and
Rick Seidman, president and CEO of
Quoizel, Inc., will serve as secretary.
Larry King, president and owner of
Capital Lighting, Columbus, Ohio, will
serve as chair-elect for 2016.
Three members of the board were
elected to serve their second, three-
year terms; Robert Dillon, CEO of
Hubbardton Forge; Larry King, LS,
president and owner of Capital Lighting;
and Andy Burns, CLC, LC, CLMR,
partner, Triple C Lighting & Controls.
Nominated to serve his first full,
three-year term was Kris Quackenbush,
president of The Carlson Group.
The new elections will take effect on
Jan. 1, 2016.
In addition to these individuals,
the following people currently serve
as members of the ALA Board of
Governors:

Seattle Lighting;

president of Montreal Lighting &
Hardware Inc.; and

The objectives of the ALA Board
of Governors are to provide direction
to the association in order to advance
the industry; establish policy and approve programs and the annual budget;
conduct strategic planning retreats to
ensure the association’s priorities and
objectives remain clear and cutting-edge;
and to ensure the organization is making
good progress in meeting objectives and
addressing industry/member needs by
reviewing committee performance.
Lighting for Tomorrow 2015 Award Winners Announced
at ALA Annual Conference
The Lighting for Tomorrow (LFT) awards were announced on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 3, during the 2015
ALA Annual Conference in Huntington
Beach, Calif. Winners were chosen from
the categories of decorative lighting, directional lighting, retrofit kits, light engines,
light bulbs and lighting controls.
LFT was launched in 2002 and is
organized by ALA, the Consortium for
Energy Efficiency and Underwriters
Laboratories, Inc. Approximately two
dozen energy-efficiency organizations in
the U.S. and Canada participated in sup-
porting this latest competition.

The 2015 ALA Annual Conference in Huntington Beach, Calif., Oct.
1-3, welcomed 651 attendees, a record
number for the association. Notably, this
year’s event featured some adjustments
to the programming and offerings,
which caught members’ attention and
were largely well received.
“Our goal of providing a conference
experience with more opportunities for
networking and member connectivity
was a success,” said Eric Jacobson, ALA
