ALA Announces Launch
of New Website
This fall, ALA will launch a new website, complete with updated content, a
mobile-friendly design and a new system for the association’s online courses.
The site will be broken down into two subsites. One site will focus on lighting
design ideas and inspiration, and one will provide information for ALA members
and industry professionals.
The new websites will be created using a modular platform, making the design
more flexible, while allowing for new capabilities to be added as association and
member needs evolve.
To assist in the redesign, the association hired Etchasoft, a company that
specializes in custom interactive websites, database applications and enterprise
programming. Etchasoft has a history of working with various associations and
partnered with ALA to work through the challenges and opportunities available
to improve the association and the industry.
Industry and Member Content
The content on the industry website will be broken down by membership
category. Industry members visiting ALA’s website will be able to review
ALA’s programs, education offerings, articles and more based on their area of
focus. Each member subcategory, including showrooms, manufacturers, sales
representatives, designers and associates, will see content specifically curated
for their needs when they click their category.
By prioritizing information based on industry area, members will not have to
sift through all the information and programs ALA provides. This will make
navigation of the site easier. While information is sorted by member type, all
sections, as well as an extended footer with all web content, will be available
to every ALA member.
See page 2 for more exciting features of ALA’s new website.
ALA Releases 2017
Lighting Trends Videos
The 2017 ALA and Better Homes and Gardens lighting trends videos are
now available for members to share with their customers. Annually,
the ALA BiNational Advertising and PR Program partners with its
premium Lighting magazine advertisers to create videos covering the
top trends in lighting.
New to this year’s video programming, ALA and the editors at
Better Homes and Gardens looked to the manufacturer advertisers to
develop the trends. This allowed the advertisers to highlight their
most popular and up-and-coming lines, while delivering information
on what truly are the hottest trends of 2017. Trending topics included
smart homes and home automation, outdoor living, mixing styles and
materials, and the growing popularity of black as a fixture finish.
“We are constantly working
to improve upon and
expand the materials and
resources provided by the
and PR Program,” said ALA
Executive Vice President
Larry Lauck. “This year,
we were excited to take
a different approach in producing these videos. By allowing the
manufacturers, who are the true experts in lighting, to guide the
topics of these videos, we have produced content that is sure to
resonate with both industry members and consumers.”
All of the 2017 lighting trends
videos are available on ALA’s
website and You Tube
channel. Members are
encouraged to share these
links across the internet and
with their customers. To
receive high-resolution files,
or with questions about the
videos, members may contact Lauck at
email@example.com or Amy Wommack, ALA
communications manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
See page 7 for exciting ways to use these videos.
